LEEDS UNITED v BRADFORD: UNITED GOALKEEPER INJURED.

The holiday crowd numbering quite 4,000 watched this friendly encounter on the Elland Road ground. Earlier in the season a similar match took place, and was won by the Leeds players: yesterday Bradford triumphed and thus the honours are equal. The Bradford team contained two forwards who played against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, while the whole combination was a capable one. Leeds United were represented by a number of young players with a future before them.

It was thought before play commenced that the Bradfordians would be capable of an easy victory, and the opening exchanges tended to confirm that opinion, but gradually the United youngsters, having found their bearings, came prominently into the picture, and with a little more steadiness near goal would have scored. They did eventually take the lead after thirty minutes' play, through the medium of a penalty kick taken by McGee, brought about by a Bradford defender striking the ball with his hands when a goal seemed certain. Before half-time, however, Crowther ran smartly through the home middle and back division and scored for Bradford. At the cross-over the teams were equal.

Bradford started the second half like the first, and Leeds retaliated, but Crowther put the visitors in front with another smart goal. Jeffrey, the United goalkeeper, tried to stop the ball, and got his hand on it at the same time as Crowther shot, the result being a badly injured wrist. Jeffrey retired, and Crawshaw left the centre forward position to fill the space between the goalposts. With four forwards the United doggedly contested the remaining minutes left for play, although Waite quickly scored a third goal for Bradford. Result:- Bradford 3 goals, Leeds United 1 goal.
